Internet Connection problem:  Possibly a problem with the driver for the local area connection adapter
I have a Toshiba NB205 with Windows XP 2007. I lost internet connection after installing a new antivirus software ( PCTools) which was making my computer run slow and then suddenly crash, showing a blue screen with messages. When i restarted it was fine but i decided to uninstall the new program, after which i was unable to connect to internet either wireless or via cable. When i tried to diagnose the problem I got the message that it may be a problem with the driver for the local area connection adapter (i am sure its not a problem witht he internet connection itself as my roommate was able to connect to internet with my cable connection and via wireless). I do not currently have my installation CD with me and am wondering if 1) i need to reinstall a driver and which one and 2) without internet connection and without my windows installation CD what options do i have to install a new driver?? Can i download to another computer and save to a flash disk?? I very much appreciate any help you can offer! Let me know if you need me to provide any more details to help you assist me!

Thanks for the reply. I checked each of my network adapters and the computer says they are all up to date and functioning fine. So then, what else could be the problem with my computer connecting to the internet??

Could the antivirus software i downloaded have reconfigured some settings on my computer?? I checked for anything obvious, but am not so computer savy so not sure of any settings that i´m not familiar with for internet connectivity.
